Welcome to my blog.
Kicking things off 2023 finally.
It's not been much of a winter here in the midwest
(Wisconsin to be exact) but finally we've had our first
(Wisconsin to be exact) but finally we've had our first
Snow Storm that dumped about 5-6" of snow within
24 hours all the while the temperatures were way below freezing.
In the meantime, I am getting ready for my first winter
camping trip about six hours away from home and
I'm pretty excited to finally get out and do some camping
in the snow, cooking and snow shoeing and all that
even with a bunch of other people who are equally crazy.
The group is from the Midwest Winter Camping group
on Facebook and they've been doing this for a while.
I think I will write about all that in a separate post,
because first I'd like to introduce myself a little bit.
Who am I?
Well, my name is Joerg and I am from Germany.
I have been living in the US since 2006.
First I lived in Atlanta, GA until about 2016, which
is when I moved north to the frozen tundra of
Wisconsin, right around the Milwaukee area.
I am a sailor, pilot, musician and overall and outdoorsy
kind of guy.
I figured it would be a great thing to share some
of my adventures with the community and since
I am beginning to hate Facebook et al a little bit
more every day, I thought it might be the best
to turn back to old skool blogging and vlogging.
I have some adventures to share still which
happened in the past, but nonetheless I believe
are worthy of a post here on this blog.
For examply in 2021 and in 2022 I took my Sailboat
the SV Sundowner, a MacGregor 26S, to the Apostle Islands.
She has an Instagram account under @SV_Sundowner
if you'd like to follow along.
This picture below was taken February 2022 at Mauthe Lake
in the Kettle Moraine Forest.
This picture below shows one of the breathtaking sunrises
I got to experience aboard my sailboat Sundowner while
cruising the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior in August of 2022.
Below shows my sailboat anchored in Julienne Bay of Stockton Island
in the Apostle Islands, August of 2022.
It was a remarkable week of cruising and living aboard.
I will post more about last year's trips here as time goes on.
I sure hope you come along on my adventures.
